On the night Hurricane Sandy was lashing us with rain, I went to see Chris Isaak in concert. I was lucky enough to meet him and his drummer, Kenney Dale Johnson too. Both were lovely people! The show was fantastic. Chris and his band, Rowland Salley on bass, Hershel Yatovitz on lead guitar, Scott Plunkett on piano and Raphael Padilla on percussion are tight, supremely talented and have a lot of fun while putting on an excellent show. I loved the lights. They changed throughout the show. Not only were the men highlighted but the air itself changed as the songs progressed. Chris Isaak wore a colourfully embroidered black suit but in the lights it changed and of course, I claim artistic license for further changes. Roly, the bass man, is also a watercolorist, a really talented one and the writer of a Grammy award winning sone, 'Killing the Blues'.
